This is a letter from Carl Person. The inly thing removed was his personal phone number. Everything else is word for word. He is attempting to put together a series of debates for candidates that were excluded from the 9 previous debates.

My name is Carl Person. I’m the Reform Party nominee for NYC Mayor and am organizing a series of debates for the NYC mayoral candidates who have been excluded from the recent debates.

Here is a list of the excluded candidates:

Adolfo Carrión, Jr. (R)

George McDonald (R)

Cecelia Berkowitz (D)

Randy Credico (D)

Eric Salgado (D)

Anthony Gronowicz (Green Party Nominee)

Carl Person (Reform Party Nominee)

Jimmy McMillan (Rent too Damn High Party Nominee)

I prepared this list based on participation in 9 recent mayoral debates, as detailed below, at the end of this letter, and considered a candidate as “excluded” if he/she participated in 0, 1 or 2 of the 9 debates.

Please call me to discuss how you, I and the other 6 excluded candidates can put together a series of perhaps 50 to 100 debates, to be held in various colleges, high schools, TV and radio studios, online and in other ways and locations throughout NYC, to enable voters to hear issues not being aired through the press-favored candidates, and for each of us excluded candidates to be able to obtain publicity, volunteers, donations, and petition signatures which we, otherwise, probably would not obtain.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Carl E. Person

The Reform Party of the United States stands against expanding free trade. The Filipino government wrote and delivered a bill, the Save Our Industries (Save Act), to the US Congress that will expand free trade between their country and ours. This is wrong on two levels.

The Reform Party does not oppose trade with the Philippines, and embraces trade that mutually benefits all countries involved. The problem with this trade deal is that it would open the door for Filipino factories to dump an estimated four billion dollars worth of products into the American markets at the cost of American manufacturing jobs.

Since the start of free trade agreements with NAFTA in 1992, America’s trade deficit rose from 39.2 billion dollars to 559.8 billion in 2011, or an increase of over 1428 percent. The increase in this deficit was caused by the outsourcing of jobs, and the exploitation of unregulated environments and labor overseas.

Secondly the SAVE Act was no written by US lobbiests, lawmakers or citizens. It was written by foreign interests and the Filipino government, and being lobbied for by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, a proxy of the Embassy of the Philippines. The fact that foreign interests can hand a bill to US Congressman and lobby on its behalf gives foreign interests too much influence over domestic interests.

This bill must be stopped. American cannot afford to lose more manufacturing jobs to Free Trade, and allow foreign interests to meddle with American economic policy.

For Immediate Release – According to the media and inside sources, the Save our Industries Act (SAVE Act) will be reintroduced in the 113th Congress. A blog post on www.saveourindustriesact.com indicates that the Philippine Embassy has intensified its engagement about this issue as of March 16th. Filipino Ambassador Cuisia met with a congressional delegation led by the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Republican Representative Ed Royce. During this meeting, Ambassador Cuisia lobbied in support of the SAVE Act.

This act would extend free trade to Filipino factories that produce textiles by cutting tariffs and other trade barriers. The SAVE Act would open the door for these factories to dump an estimated four billion dollars worth of products into the American markets.

The Reform Party stands against the SAVE Act and other extensions of free trade.

We’ve removed all the outdated information about the 2012 campaigns and have added new content about our 2013 and 2014 hopefuls. We also added a new EPetition Center to highlight our EPetitions and hopefully gain momentium. We’ve also edited our Current Efforts and added recent activity. The content on the sliders and bottom widgets is also different.

There is still one more technical difficultly we are currently working out. Hopefully we can get it fixed in the next few days.

The Reform Party has begun creating petitions based on its platform. The party sees petitioning as a way to gain exposure for its stances and improve its visibility. In addition the petitioning allows the Reform Party to improve its ability to be part of political discussion in the United States.

The first petition focuses on trade reform. Trade protectionism is a value that party supporters have stood for since before the party was formed, and originated during Ross Perot’s first presidential run in 1992. It advocates for leaving NAFTA, WTO and other free trade agreements as well as levying protective tariffs on some foreign goods.

The second petition focuses on reforms that will help small businesses. It focuses on building an environment that small businesses can succeed in, regulatory reform and restructuring the tax system so small businesses can get the same tax advantages as their larger competitors.

Petition number three seeks to create a foundation for a compromise-inspired spending reform and debt elimination plan. It is a comprehensive plan that includes cutting 100 billion dollars in special interest loopholes, passing a balance budget amendment, reforming safety net programs, reforming accounting methods, cutting overlap and reducing waste.

The fourth petition deals with gerrymandering reform. The fifth focuses on opening up the presidential debates, so independent and third party candidates are not shut out unjustly.
