The Swamp is Not Draining

President Donald Trump was elected on the promise of “draining the swamp”. Donald Trump’s transition has illustrated that he will not keep the promise. The opportunity to make a statement on that subject was there, but too many swampy politicians were appointed to key positions.

  • Elaine Chao, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, is now Secretary of Transportation.
  • Attorney General pick Jeff Sessions is a career conservative politician and entrenched Republican.
  • HHS Nominee Tom Price is another career Republican and entrenched conservative
  • Steven Mnuchin is a Goldman Sachs executive and Goldman Sachs has long been a target of anti-establishment politicos.

The largest swampy appointment however is Betsy DeVos. There have been concerns raised by both Democrats and a growing number of Republicans about the appointment of Betsy DeVos to head the Department of Education.

Betsy DeVos has no experience in public education. Her work in education as a whole is limited, and far below the point of competency. She is only being considered because she is a Republican donor. America needs an experienced educator to run the Department of Education.

The Senate must vote “No” on Betsy DeVos.
