Bill C. Merrell is the current chairman of the Reform Party. He serves from 2017 through 2020. He also is the Chairman of the Reform Party of New York, and has been a Reform Party member for over a decade.
In addition to being Reform Party Chairman, Dr. Merrell is the owner and director of the Merrell Institute and the Merrell Education Center in New York.
Dr. Merrell has worked as a Property Manager-Owner since 1991 on multiple properties (Single Family, Multi-Family, Townhomes, Condominiums), and was elected for a 6 year period as President and Board Manager for a 287 Unit complex in Suffolk County. He was personally involved in a 3 million dollar renovation project in this NYS Complex.
Dr. Merrell has a Ph.D. He is a Certified Real Estate Appraiser from the National Association of Real Estate Appraisers (NAREA), a Registered Mortgage Underwriter from the National Association of Review Appraisers/Mortgage Underwriters (NARAMU) and is a Certified Environmental Inspector from the Environmental Assessment Association (EAA). He has over a dozen other certifications.
Leigh is the newly elected Vice-Chair of the national Reform Party and the immediate past Treasurer (2016-2020). He has served as the party’s NYS Vice-Chair and the Nassau County (NY) Chair.
Leigh has a long history of active involvement in politics. He became the youngest executive/Zone Leader in the Nassau County (NY) Democratic Party, running numerous campaigns. When the County legislature was enacted in 1996, he ran the Republican campaign for the first woman (and first African-American) ever elected to countywide office. He then became a Republican committeeman and continued running successful campaigns until 2010 when he founded a local party, The Boardwalk Party in Long Beach NY – which assisted in upending city council elections in a victory which swept the council seats. Since then, he has been a member of the Reform Party.
Leigh is a former bank executive, starting and running multi-billion dollar divisions/subsidiaries for financial institutions. He has a reputation for ‘turning-around’ unsuccessful divisions and bringing them to profitability. He left the nation’s largest bank in 2010 to start Pollet Associates, a successful New York real estate consulting and appraisal company, concentrating on complex and high-value property valuations especially for litigation.
Leigh’s involvement in community extends to over 40 years, the last 33 in Uniondale, NY, where he is a national high school Hall-of-Fame Track Coach at Uniondale High School. He has coached over 10 Olympians, more than 30 members of USA and foreign national teams and multiple “All-American’s” and national and state champions.
Nicholas Hensley, Secretary of the Reform Party (Incoming Chairman on January 1, 2021)
Nicholas Hensley is Secretary of the Reform Party and Chairman of the Reform Party of North Carolina.
Hensley us experienced in both political operations and communications, and has freelanced for numerous candidates and campaigns over the past decade. He also helped successfully lobby for ballot access reform in the state of North Carolina, meeting with numerous state lawmakers in favor of the legislation.
Professionally he is a partner in Lason Media LLC, a small owner operated marketing and public relations firm.
Nicholas Hensley was elected the next Reform Party Chairman during the 2020 Convention. He will replace Bill Merrell on January 1, 2021.
Michael Hackmer is the Mid-Atlantic Representative and Chairman of the Reform Party of Virginia. He gathered signatures for Ross Perot in 1992 and has been an active member of the Reform Party since its founding.
