NEW YORK, NY – New York City is facing a crisis of leadership and livability, and the race for Mayor has become the focal point of New Yorkers’ deep lack of trust in politics. Voters are being offered a slate of candidates who represent some of the weakest choices in recent history. One is an avowed socialist who wants to import the failed policies of Seattle, San Francisco, and Cuba to New York—policies that would require massive tax hikes on all New Yorkers to pay for so-called “free” schemes. (There is no such thing as free services—someone always has to pay.)
Another is a disgraced politician who resigned from office following sexual harassment charges—on top of his role during COVID, when President Biden’s Attorney General accused him of making criminally false statements to cover up thousands of deaths caused by his mismanagement of the pandemic.
Then there is the current mayor, surrounded by scandal. His aides, campaign workers, and members of his administration have been indicted or arrested for corruption—including one aide who notoriously handed a reporter a bag of chips filled with cash. The mayor himself was indicted and heading toward a federal corruption trial until he appears to have struck a deal with President Trump.
Finally, there is the candidate who claims to understand the struggles of working people—yet he has never held a real job, never been elected to office, and has no idea what it takes to feed a family, pay rent or a mortgage, or plan for the future.
Now, the people of New York City have a real choice: Joseph Hernandez.
Joseph escaped the same kind of destructive socialist-communist government that one of his opponents seeks to bring to New York. His father was a political prisoner in Cuba until the family was able to escape and come to the United States. From there, Joseph lived the American dream—building a career and life on his own achievements and becoming a true American success story.
Now, he wants to dedicate himself to serving the people of New York City as their mayor. His campaign aligns with the Reform Party’s platform: transparency, accountability to the people (not special interests), and realistic, workable solutions. Joseph has put forward reliable and honest policies, not pie-in-the-sky promises that would only mean higher taxes for New Yorkers. Joseph believes in fair and honest elections. He even sued the city to extend ranked-choice voting into general elections—a reform the Reform Party strongly supports.
His plan to convert vacant office buildings into housing is bold, thoughtful, and genuine. It provides a realistic solution to New York’s housing shortage while also addressing affordability for working families.
