Today’s shooting in Alexandra is a reminder of not just how divided we are as a nation, but that some radicals on both the left and the right resort to violence. In the United States of America, violence is neither necessary nor beneficial. In American politics we change our government at the ballot box, and not at the point of a gun.
The shooting of unarmed people is a tool wielded by cowards that are incapable of true courage and leadership. Those that lead us towards are future are not incapable cowards, but those with the long term courage to risk their name to promote change through peaceful, democratic efforts.
The Reform Party would like to send our hopes and prayers to Capital Police Officers David Bailey and Crystal Griner, legislative aid Zack Barth, House Majority Whip Steve Scalias and all of their families.
