On June 13th, 2020 the Reform Party National Committee met to elect new officers for the 2021 to 2025 term and fill executive committee vacancies.
Long time Reform Party Secretary Nicholas Hensley of North Carolina was elected the next Reform Party Chairman. He replaces Bill Merrell.
Nicholas Hensley, experienced in both political operations and communications, has freelanced for numerous candidates and campaigns over the past decade. He also helped successfully lobby for ballot access reform in the state of North Carolina, meeting with numerous state lawmakers in favor of the legislation. Professionally he is a partner in Lason Media LLC, a small owner operated marketing and public relations firm.
Treasurer Leigh Pollet of New York was elected to fill the Vice chairman vacancy and was seated by the Convention.
Pollet has a long history of political and electoral success. He was formerly the youngest person elected to the New York Democratic Executive Committee. Before joining the Reform Party, he served in numerous positions for both the Democratic and Republican Parties, worked with unions, and once chaired the Boardwalk Party, a local party that ousted several incumbent officeholders. Professionally he works as a building inspector and is a nationally renowned track coach that coached numerous award winning and Olympic athletes. His term ends in 2022.
Michael Hackmer of Virginia was elected as Secretary of the Reform Party to fill the vacancy caused by Hensley’s promotion.
Hackmer is a respected marketing and advertising professional that once worked on Capitol Hill. He has been active with party and prior movement on and off since Ross Perot ran in 1992. He served previously as the party’s communications chair and twice on the executive committee as the Mid-Atlantic Representative. He will begin his term when Hensley takes office in 2021 and serve through 2022.
David Collison of Texas was elected Treasurer and seated early by the Convention to fill the vacancy by Leigh Pollet.
Collison is an engineer, and has long been respected by those in the minor parties. He served two terms as the Reform Party’s chairman and was first elected to the Reform Party executive committee in 2003. Though he has been absent from the day to day executive dealings since he was term limited in 2016, he has been serving on the Reform Party’s Communications Committee.
Prior to the 2020 National Committee meeting, the Midwest National Committee delegation met to elect a new Midwest Representative. Jon Winter of Wisconsin was elected as the Midwest Regional Representative due to his political and committee experience. Jon Winter currently serves as a Town of Lakeside Wisconsin Supervisor and previously was Town Chairperson. When he is not working in politics, he owns a computer consulting company and is business manager for the Douglas County Historical Society.
“When the National Committee met, we made a decision. We had to be competitive and fill our executive committee with competitive professionals” said Thomas Clark of Tennessee, a state where the Reform Party’s Presidential Candidate is on the ballot. “Electing Nick and Leigh as chair and vice-chair put two experienced political operations people at the top. Electing David and Mike gives us two highly efficient technical professionals to support them. Jon is balanced in both and brings good reasoning to the table. This was the moment that the National Committee decided we wanted to compete. We wanted to win”.
The Reform Party’s Candidate for President is Rocky De La Fuente.
Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente is living proof that the American Dream can be achieved by those who are inspired to pursue it. He has an amazing record of success. From earning an FAA license to fly single engine planes at the age of 20 to owning 29 automobile dealerships and becoming Chairman of the National Dealers Council for the third largest automobile manufacturer in the world by the age of 28, he’s in a league by himself.
De la Fuente created a banking network in 1982 to help address Mexico’s economic crisis and established impressive real estate holdings throughout the United States while creating thousands of new jobs along the way. In 1992, Rocky became the first Hispanic American to serve as a Delegate-At-Large for the State of California at a National Convention. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics (Magna Cum Laude) and an honorary doctorate from UNESCO. Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente has been a great success in his political career, achieving great acceptance among the Latino community.
Joining him on the ticket as the Vice Presidential candidate is Darcy Richardson. A veteran campaigner, and highly respected political activist, Richardson has waged several campaigns for office. In 2018, he received the most votes of any Reform Party candidate in over decade when he campaigned for the Florida governorship.
Currently the Reform Party is rebuilding. It seeks to recruit organizers and volunteers to build local and state organizations. Though many ballot access deadlines for local or state candidates have passed, the Reform Party is also seeking state and local candidates for office in 2020 and beyond. Strong affiliated organizations and Reform Party candidates will motivate voters to vote for Rocky De La Fuente and future candidates.
