Good Morning America!
On Thursday, June 27th, CNN hosted the first presidential debate for the Republican and Democratic presumptive nominees. Since the start of the primary season, we have bemoaned this election cycle. Two largely disliked presidents are facing off. We knew this would be a demoralizing election season, and many Americans who watched the debate would now agree. Lies, hate, and incompetence filled ninety grueling minutes. There is however an alternative. Since the time of Ross Perot the Reform Party has stood for effective and ethical governance. The time has come for our party to stage its comeback.
We could complain that our candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was not on stage. The Biden and Trump debate, however, gave us a clear baseline for comparison.
Biden’s performance was the most shocking. In no uncertain terms, it seems unethical for the Democrats to nominate a man who is clearly in decline. The Democrats should replace him as their nominee for President of the United States.
Trump was unchanged. Each breath he took was an opportunity to grandstand about how great his perception of himself is. It is clear that when he does not get his way, he will seek to impose his will. In Trump’s mind, his opinion is the supreme law of the land, while that opinion is whatever is currently advantageous to him, be it fact or myth.
While the nightmare that was the CNN debate aired, our candidate hosted his own, which ran in tandem using the same rules and questions. By the end of night, what seemed as clear to us as ever, was that “Kennedy is the Remedy.” He speaks in nuance, not absolutes, he harbors no hate for “other” Americans, and most importantly he sees the two-party system for what it is, an oligarchical structure laid over the foundation of our democracy. His concerns are the deficit and debt, corporate capture, and endless wars, all of which pull resources from our ability to maintain the systems and infrastructure that keep our nation functional and strong.
A hallmark of RFK Jr.’s campaign is a desire to reverse America’s authoritarian impulse to use force to create compliance. The “culture war” that has been waged in America by the Republicans and Democrats, and that was present on CNN’s stage, is yet another form of force used to create compliance. Their identity politics compels your vote through fear and hate, the loss of community acceptance, and deceit. They force you to use your most important right, the right to vote, to pursue their agenda. The “culture war” can only end when its agitators no longer hold power. This year, this election cycle, is the best opportunity since Ross Perot to affect the system through its most prominent office. The two parties want you to think electing someone other than them is impossible. It is not impossible; it just hasn’t happened in the last 100 years. We will change that broken system this November.
Join us, as we stand up against the two-party system, their culture war, and their manufactured reasons to disavow our fellow Americans. This November, stand up against fear, hate, and deceit. Vote for peace, for hope, and for Reform; vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
